CPL T20 an important sport tourism product says Grange

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange expressed great satisfaction with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for their role in propelling cricket to regional prominence once again as she underscored the importance of cricket to the region and CPL to the rest of world as an important tourism product at the Foska Oats Jamaica Tallawahs Team Breakfast on Tuesday, June 28th, 2016.
“We are very pleased that cricket is once again on the rise in the Caribbean, and that the CPL provides a great opportunity for Caribbean people to rally in support of the region’s game. Cricket is more than a game in our region; it is a part of our ideology as one people with shared history and a shared future,” she said.
Minister Grange added that the excitement that T20 brings is very important to the future of the sport of cricket and the Government of Jamaica is very elated to be a part of the initiative.
“We recognize the importance of the CPL as an important sport tourism product. We commend the Tallawahs brand and of course our world class players for shining the spotlight on the region and on Jamaica and we look forward to working with you in doing our part in growing this franchise which we know has tremendous potential to benefit Jamaica,” the Sport Minister said.
She added that this year’s CPL T20 competition will undoubtedly be one of the “biggest party in sport” as it will be televised across the world to over 200 million households.
Director of Operations of Caribbean Foods Limited, Christopher Ramson said Foska Oats, funding sponsor of the Jamaica Tallawahs team, “stands once again behind our Jamaica Tallawahs, who we are confident will lift the CPL trophy once again.”
The CPL T20 competition is set to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, June 29, 2016 and will run until August 07, 2016.
