TLC rallies fathers to defend family life

| 2016-06-23 00:00:00

Fathers’ Day at Transformed Life Church (TLC), was marked by a rallying call for fathers to defend family life, a theme that was consistent from the sermon through to the specially planned activities which took place at the TLC’s Hope Road location, on Sunday June 19, 2016.

Fathers were urged to take their rightful place as head of their families, not only as financial providers, but also as protectors from both a physical and spiritual standpoint. Pastor Dwight Fletcher, Senior Pastor of TLC, was emphatic about the spiritual attacks that families face everyday and pointed to the need for fathers to come into right-standing with God in order to equip themselves with the weapons necessary for spiritual warfare.

Pastor Dwight’s message stirred the congregation and especially the men who readily identified with many of the scenarios he painted, as he illustrated man’s God-given instinct to protect, from the Bible as well as his own experiences. He also highlighted that fathers have been standing on the sideline for too long now and trumpeted the call for them to step up to the frontline.

While the message delivered by Pastor Dwight focused primarily on arming fathers for spiritual battle, after the church service, the fathers were invited to pick up arms, and as a symbolic declaration, they headed for the paintball shooting course set-up as a free treat for Dads.

They were also treated to man-sized hotdogs and an instructor from the Firearms Licensing Authority (FLA) was on hand to give talks about the safe use and storage of licensed firearms.

Transformed Life Church, led by Pastors Dwight and Joan Fletcher, meets at 34 Hope Road, Kingston 6 (Police Officers’ Club) on Sundays at 7:15 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
