NWC working on sewerage problem affecting Edgewater

National Water Commission | 2016-06-14 00:00:00

The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that work is continuing to complete a series of repairs to various sections of its sewerage network in Portmore, St. Catherine following sewer line breaks and overflows particularly in Edgewater affecting the system since the weekend.

The NWC wastewater crews have already completed repairs to two different sections of the sewer network.

However, further breaks on the pumping main leading from Edgewater have now been compounded by their close proximity to Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) poles, necessitating the co-ordination of those repair efforts with the JPSCo.  This latest break is near the intersection of Bridgeport Road and Eberle Drive but affects sewerage flows in sections of Edgewater.

The NWC wishes to apologise to all customers who continue to be affected by the sewerage problems in the area and advises that every effort is still being made to complete the series of repairs in the shortest time possible. Barring any further unforeseen developments, it is expected that normality will be restored to the Edgewater sewerage network within the next 24 hours.
