| 2016-06-13 00:00:00

The parish of St. Ann has a new Optimist Club.  Charter members of the New Optimist Club of Golden Lydford received a golden opportunity to give service to the nation’s children when they took the membership pledge at a Club Organization ceremony held earlier this year.  Charter President Mitsie Somers-Hutchinson, along with fifteen new members were inducted on March 21.  Just two weeks later, eleven more persons joined the club raising its membership to 27 strong.

The birth of the New Optimist Club of Golden Lydford pushed the Optimist Caribbean District into the top ten of Optimist International’s Leaders Scoreboard. Congratulations to Builder of Excellence extraordinaire Barbara Watson and Past International Vice President Sonia Anderson.

Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 Clubs.  Members work each day to create opportunities for a brighter future for all, by bringing out the best in children, in their communities and in themselves.  The Optimist International Caribbean District is comprised of clubs in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.
