PM Holness to open First Security & Ethics Conference

Prime Minister Andrew Holness will open the inaugural Security and Ethics Conference to be held this Tuesday, June 14 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, commencing at 8:00 a.m. The conference is being hosted by the Ministry of Education Youth & Information in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security and the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The conference, which is being held under the theme, “Enhancing Ethical Values to Engender a Culture of Safety and Security”, will also be addressed by Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller. Minister of Education, Youth and Information Senator Ruel Reid, and Minister of National Security Robert Montague will also deliver remarks. Presenters will include representatives from several United States-based educational institutions.

According to Chief Education Officer Dr. Grace McLean, the conference is being held in conjunction with the Career Advancement Programme and seeks to include youth in the search for solutions to crime and anti-social behavior among that demographic. She says the conference is targeted primarily to youth, student leaders, Deans of Discipline, school leaders and law enforcement personnel. Approximately 500 participants from across the island are expected to attend.
