Flash Flood Warning in effect for St. Thomas, Portland, St. Mary & St. Ann

As a Trough continues to move across Jamaica, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is urging citizens to be alert as the Meteorological Service of Jamaica has advised that the system will continue to produce unstable weather.

The ODPEM has received reports of flooding and landslides in the parish of St. Thomas and flooding in Portland on May 24, 2016. Reports from St.Thomas indicate that flooding occurred in the communities of Morant Bay, Golden Grove, Hampton Court, Hardely Crossing and Cheswick causing roads to become impassible. The communities of Crockett and Pear Tree River also reported instances of landslides. One life was reported lost.
